CRIME UPDATE
As some of you are painfully aware, theft of fuel and scrap metal is still on the increase. Catalytic Convertors are especially prized for their high scrap value and fuel prices shows no sign of being reduced, encouraging more theft.
HOW DO WE STOP IT?...
Our newly developed Motion Detection CCTV systems are designed just for this type of crime and are very cost effective. Compounds and remote locations are susceptible to criminal activity but can easily be covered by this system, even wirelessly if required.
We can fit the system to a broadband connection and remotely monitor the camera’s from our Control Room at Kingstown Industrial Estate in Carlisle. When they detect movement / intruders, we despatch a Guard to the scene immediately.
A second option, if there is no broadband available is to fit a GSM dialler (SIM CARD) to the cameras, this then automatically calls us when the cameras detect movement in the compound or yard area. We then attend immediately.
A CCTV system is only as good as the response to it when it activates. A normal CCTV system will merely record the criminal activity for you to review when you come into work the following morning. Our system does this but MOST IMPORTANTLY tells us when you the customer are being targeted. We attend, the criminals scarper! Thieves quickly figure out if a premises benefits from MONITORED CCTV WITH EMERGENCY RESPONSE and they move off to burgle somewhere else with less protection. If you’re interested contact us direct or call Greg for a chat on either 01228 513345 or 07793 470912.
POPULAR SERVICES...
Both the Remotely Monitored Motion Detection CCTV systems and the GSM Dialler Motion Detection CCTV systems, both with Emergency Response, have quickly become our most popular products and services. Most often these are taken in conjunction with our Key Holding & Alarm Response Service. The point with all these services is for your security provider to know when someone is in or on your premises so we can attend immediately.

APRIL 2011
The lighter nights and forthcoming summer months bring about a variety of festivals, concerts, shows and outdoor events, especially in our diverse County. Last year ‘Ultimate’ provided security for many weddings, especially those held in Marquees. Often these private events can suffer the unwanted attention of the criminal fraternity. Marquees are often erected in advance and contain valuable sound equipment, not to mention the potential disruption to the layout and setting of the Marquee.
Bookings for Security have already been taken for various events around the County including The Keswick Convention and The Pirelli Rally. Anyone involved in arranging any forthcoming event can call ‘Ultimate’ to discuss their requirements on 01228 513345 or Contact Us here for further information.
MARCH 2011
Greg Kelly, MD of ‘Ultimate’ reports further evidence of private and public sector interest in the installation of fully integrated security solutions including remote monitoring of CCTV systems.
“The current financial climate is resulting in businesses and local authorities reviewing and streamlining their current security arrangements. A fully monitored CCTV system fitted with motion detectors supported by emergency response is proving an attractive alternative to traditional methods. Illegal entry or activity detected on site can be responded to by 24 hour Security patrols thereby effectively displacing crime.”

CHECKING THE VALIDITY OF SECURITY OFFICERS LICENSES
All Security Officers in the UK are required by law to be licensed by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
‘Ultimate’ now has 50 fully licensed Security Staff deployed around the County of Cumbria and beyond.
Should anyone employ the services of a Security Company providing Manned Services they should insist on seeing the Operatives SIA licence. This will identify the licence holder and provide a licence number as well as an expiry date. Anyone still in any doubt can go to the SIA website and conduct a validity search on the Register of Licence Holders.

CRIME UPDATE: There have been a spate of robberies in the Carlisle and rural areas. Typically these have involved some sort of weapon such as a knife being used to threaten staff in shops or post offices. Preventative measures such as CCTV installation can help to displace this sort of crime.
If camera’s are evident both outside and inside a store, together with appropriate signs informing members of the public that images are being recorded for crime prevention purposes, this can make the difference when criminals are deciding who or where to target. A TV Monitor placed inside a store showing the images being recorded is also a very good idea. If a person enters a store and can see themselves on camera, they may think twice....
SECURITY INDUSTRY AUTHORITY (SIA): There has been recent press coverage regarding The Government potentially considering the disbanding or rearranging of The Security Industry Authority (SIA). Greg Kelly, MD of Ultimate Security has recently met with the SIA. They have reassured the industry that it is business as usual and that the SIA will continue to regulate the Security industry as a whole.
This means all Officers and operational security staff should be adequately trained and licensed by the SIA. Ultimate have recently been visited and inspected by the regulating body and the public can therefore be reassured that ‘Ultimate’ continue to provide professional licensed services to the business sector.
All Security Officers must be licensed by the Security Industry Authority which is a government department. The SIA website can provide up to date confirmation of current licences held by security staff. The website address is www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk
October 2010
CRIME UPDATE: The recession continues to bite across all sectors. This can result in an increase in criminal activity particularly with ‘dishonesty’ offences such as theft, burglary, fraud and deception. Recently we have received reports of thefts of scrap metal which have escalated sharply across the whole County.
A range of security options are available for this sort of criminal activity. Should you wish to know more or receive a free security consultation, please contact us via the website or telephone 01228 513345.
INVESTIGATION & SURVEILLANCE: Managing Director Greg Kelly reports an increase in investigation and surveillance work across the business sector.
“Some businesses are finding they are not only targeted by the criminal fraternity but also by an increase in internal criminal activity by their own staff”, said Greg. “Increasingly businesses are using covert methods to detect internal thefts and bogus claims”.
