Licensing
The Private Security Industry Act 2001 introduced the necessity for all Security Officers to be licensed by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
This was implemented by the SIA on the 20th March 2006. Since that date all Security Officers in England and Wales should have been suitably trained and licensed.
As Security Training providers, Ultimate Security trained all their own Security Officers and licensed them by the above date.
The process of licensing includes a full Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check. Any applicants with criminal convictions within the last 5 years will not be granted a license unless special circumstances apply. Any applicant with criminal convictions within the last 5 – 10 years will be considered and may be granted a license depending on the nature and seriousness of the conviction.
Generally speaking, anyone with a conviction for theft or any ‘dishonesty’ offence will not be granted a license.
